Frequently asked questions
The Tracking tab shows "Waiting for GPS…" and never resolves.
iOS may not have an immediate GPS fix indoors. Walk near a window or step outside — a fix usually arrives within 10–30 seconds. If it still doesn't resolve:
- Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services and confirm Location Services is ON.
- Find Oops I'm Late! in that list and set it to "While Using" or "Always".
- Force-quit and reopen the app.
I tapped Start Trip but no notification was sent.
The app only sends a "running late" message when the engine predicts you'll arrive after the appointment start time, accounting for your settings buffer. If you're on time the app stays quiet — that's intentional.
If you expected a notification and didn't get one:
- Open Settings → Tracking in the app and check the late buffer (default: 5 minutes).
- Confirm the appointment has attendees with phone numbers or email addresses.
- If you're using SMS: confirm Contacts permission is granted.
Recipients didn't get the SMS — what happened?
iOS opens the native Messages compose sheet for SMS sends. Some carriers and number formats can fail silently. Steps to fix:
- Open the contact in iOS Contacts and verify the phone number is correct and formatted (e.g.
+1 555-555-5555). - If the contact has multiple numbers, set one as the primary in Contacts.
- For international numbers, include the country code with a leading
+.
The app says "Calendar refresh failed" or "Calendar refresh timed out."
Most often this means the app's Calendar permission was revoked or never granted.
- Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.
- Find Oops I'm Late! and set to Full Access.
- Pull-to-refresh on the Tracking tab.
If you have an unusually large calendar, the 5-second refresh timeout may also trip; in that case Apple's CalendarKit indexing eventually catches up — try again in a minute.
How do I switch from Free to Basic or Pro?
Open the app → Settings → Subscription → choose Basic or Pro. The first time you subscribe you'll get a 3–7 day free trial. Manage or cancel from iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions (or Google Play → Payments & subscriptions on Android).
I want to delete all my data.
Open the app → Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete all data. This removes saved locations, attendee preferences, recent notifications, and any cached calendar snapshots. It does not delete your iCloud Calendar entries.
To fully remove the app: long-press the icon → Remove App → Delete App.
I'm a Pro user but traffic-aware ETA isn't appearing.
Traffic ETA requires:
- An active Pro subscription (check Settings → Subscription).
- Network connectivity at the moment of refresh.
- Under 400 traffic requests this calendar month (Pro tier quota cap).
If you hit the quota cap, the app falls back to on-device ETA until the next month.
The app keeps draining my battery.
Active trips run continuous GPS, which is power-hungry. Two mitigations:
- Open Settings → Battery saver mode in the app — reduces fix frequency at a small ETA-precision cost.
- Only start trips during the actual travel window, not hours ahead.
Outside of active trips, the app uses near-zero power; iOS only wakes it on calendar changes.
Why does the app open Messages instead of sending the text itself?
By design. Oops, I'm Late! prepares the message and hands it to your own messaging app, and you tap Send there. Nothing is ever sent without your confirmation, and message text and recipients never pass through our servers.
Some of my calendars are showing up and I don't want them to.
Open Settings → Calendars in the app and switch off any calendar you don't want it to watch. Only the calendars you leave on are used to find upcoming appointments.
The app switched to a simple screen while I'm in a car, but I'm a passenger.
When it detects you're driving, the app shows a single glanceable screen and prefers voice confirmation. If you're not the driver, use the passenger override on that screen (two taps) to get the full interface.
Is there an Android version?
